Description: Part of many lineages of yoga, Deep Belly Breathing is a great way to calm down and get out of the mind and into the body. When we slow down our breath, especially the exhale, our heart rate and other physiological factors slow down as well. This can trigger a shift to the parasympathetic branch of the nervous system, also called the “rest and digest” pathway.

Walkthrough
Find a seated or lying down position with your back straight and your eyes closed. Allow your body to relax and release any tension.

Inhale slowly your nose into your diaphragm, noticing the expansion of the belly on the inhale and the contraction on the exhale.

Repeat this cycle for 3-5 minutes or as long as it feels comfortable for you. Stay present with each breath, embracing the sense of calm and conscious control over your compulsions.
